The American Jewish Congress today expressed opposition to recommendations on higher education in New York state that would give state aid to sectarian colleges. In a communication to Governor Rockefeller, the AJC said that such aid would constitute a violation of separation of church and state.

“We oppose the use of public funds to support religious institutions, whether they be controlled by the Catholic Church, by Protestant denominations or by Jewish rabbinical bodies,” the AJC protest to the Governor stated.
