The American Jewish Congress today called for a strong federal anti-dynamiting law that would cover homes as well as institutions and permit the FBI to move swiftly when religious or racial bombings occur.

Sanford Bolz, Washington counsel for the American Jewish Congress, testified before a House judiciary sub-committee. He said the introduction of over 40 anti-bombing bills reflected a “wide demand” in the House of Representatives for federal action. But he warned the various bills differ significantly both on coverage and enforcement.

He said his organization does not support H. R. 4344, introduced by Rep. Emanuel Celler, New York Democrat, because it would apply only to schools, churches and synagogues. “Any bill that does not apply to the bombing of homes will fail to do the job that must be done”, said Mr. Bolz.
