Corporal Henry Jessel, a veteran of the Crimean War, has died here at the age of 98. For several years Corporal Jessel was a familiar figure at the Chanucah Jewish military services in London, serving as a member of the party which laid the wreath on the Cenotaph in the name of the Jewish members of His Majesty’s Forces, taking part in the ceremony wearing the Crimean Medal with the Sobastopol Clasp and the Turkish War Medal of 1855. He also used to deliver lectures on the Crimean War.
