The Papal Nuncio in Switzerland was contacted here today by two members of the Jewish Agency for Palestine with a view of securing the Pope’s intervention for Jews in Axis-occupied South-Eastern European countries whose situation is termed here as “unbearable.”

The two Jewish delegates, whose names are not disclosed, arrived in Berne from Geneva for the sole purpose of acquainting the Papal Nuncio with the reports they have received from Serbia, Croatia, and other Axis-held territories where the Jewish population is being annihilated in a most merciless manner. In Croatia, one of the reports state, there is hardly a Jewish male left alive. The Jewish women and children who remain are being terrorized to a point where they flee into German territory to escape pogroms.
