Jewish DP leaders today disavowed any connection with the persons who placed anti-British placards on several buildings here, including U.S. military headquarters. However, they said that they would take all possible steps to prevent recurrence of the incident.
The leaders asserted that their attitude should not be interpreted as favoring British policy in Palestine, but they felt it was unfair to drag Americans into the picture and cause them embarrassment. Furthermore, it was stressed, they have more important problems to consider and they feared that similar incidents would only lead to unnecessary friction between the DP’s and the military authorities.
