Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver was unanimously reelected for the fourth time as president of the Cleveland Bureau of Jewish Education.
The other officers elected by acclamation at the annual meeting of the trustees are: Alfred A. Benesch and Solomon Ulmer, vice-presidents; Nathan Loeser, treasurer; Sam Garber, assistant treasurer, and Louis S. Bing, Jr. secretary. Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner of the Euclid Avenue Temple, was elected chairman of the Executive Committee.
In addition to the present members of the Board, who are representative of various temples, synagogues and other educational organizations of Cleveland, Fred Desberg, B. H. Sinks, George J. Klein, A. Simon, Mrs. Arthur I. Fischer and Mrs. Henry A. Marks were elected for a term of one year.
The Budget Committee of the Bureau of Jewish Education, of which Nathan Loeser is chairman, approved a budget of $100,320 for the Bureau’s activities in 1927. This sum is to be raised partly through contributions now being received from the Bureau’s list of annual subscribers and partly through a campaign for approximately $38,000 in new membership, to be launched in the Spring.
The budget of the Bureau contemplates supporting seven religious schools of the Council of Jewish Women, twelve daily afternoon Hebrew schools, the Jewish Teachers’ Institute, ten summer schools, and an extensive program of education through mass celebrations, as well as through clubs, and study circles.
