Annual nation-wide observance of Jewish Education Month, sponsored by the American Association for Jewish Education, will open on Sunday, according to an announcement today by Michael Stavitsky, president of the Association, and will be followed with the observance of Jewish Education Week from October 8-15.
In support of the observance, outstanding leaders in Jewish communal life today issued a call to Jewish parents to provide religious education for their children during the coming year. The call was signed by Michael A. Stavitsky, president of the American Association for Jewish Education; Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the American Jewish Committee; Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Confress; Frank Goldman, president of B’nai B’rith; Abraham J. Feldman, president of the central Conference of American Rabbis; Stanley C. Myers, president of Council of Jewish Federations; Mrs. Josaph M. Welt, president of National Council of Jewish Women; Frank L. Weil, president of National Jewish Welfare Board; Israel M, Goldman, president of the Rabbinical Assembly of America; Samuel Nirenstein, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America; Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations; Samuel Rothstein, president of The United ##ynagogue of America; and Emanuel Neumann, president of the Zionist Organization of America.
