According to an official announcement in the Palestine Gazette issued today, 2,756 Jews were among the 2,789 immigrants who entered Palestine in February. At the same time, 2,890 Jews registered themselves with the authorities as immigrants or were admitted as travelers. Many of those who registered as immigrants have been living in Palestine illegally, having entered originally as tourists and remaining there without permission from the authorities.
Among the Jewish immigrants who arrived in February are 356 classed as capitalists, having brought with them at least pound 1,000.
The Palestine government announced today that the surplus in the treasury of Palestine had increased from pound 1,230,295 in April, 1933, to pound 2,458,732 on March 1, 1934.
