One thousand Jewish ex-service men held a protest meeting at Grand Palais. Commercial Road, East, to protest “against the savage attack on our brethren in Palestine.” Nearly all who attended wore war medals.
The meeting formulated the following demands: Formation of a Jewish defense corps, preference given to Jewish ex-service men in the civil and military administration, formation of a permanent garrison for the defense of Palestine, in which Jewish units shall have their rightful part.
