A resolution calling-upon national and overseas agencies to study methods for improving their present-day programs by Joint planning, was adopted here at the annual meeting of the Western States Region of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare funds. More than 270 delegates representing 19 Jewish communities attended the two-day parley.
Another resolution endorsed the recent CJFWF General Assembly action calling upon the Jewish communities of America to support the United Jewish Appeal and to lake adequate provision for local and national agencies. Marcel Hirsch of San Francisco was elected regional president. Vice presidents elected were frank M. Fink of Portland; Charles Brown, president of the Los Angeles Jewish Community Council, and Raphael Brandes of Tucson. Irving Schneider of Long Beach was chosen treasurer.
