Encouraged by the results of the 1942 Fall campaigns, Jewish federation and welfare fund executives are now speeding preparations for their annual Spring drives for local, national and overseas Jewish needs, the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds reported today. Reports from various parts of the country indicate a spirit of optimism, although there is some speculation as to the effect of the unsettled tax situation on philanthropic giving in 1943.
The New York Federation has just concluded its most successful campaigns While all figures are not yet in, the Federation’s goal of $7,471,000 has been reached. Twenty-eight other Jewish federations and welfare funds, reporting their final figures to the Council, raised a total of $3,560,468 in the Fall of 1942 – a gain of 12.9 percent over the amounts raised by these communities in the closing months of 1941.
