Two lighters containing Arab seamen and merchandise became uncontrollable by their Arab crews during the violent storm which raged here Saturday. The boats were being carried out to sea when a motor launch owned by Rosengarten went to the rescue and succeeded in bringing the lighters to shore.

Rosengarten, the only Jew in Jaffa who owns a fishing smack, has been accused by Arab of using his boat to smuggle arms. The accusations caused a trial at which Rosengarten was exonerated of smuggling. Hitherto fishing has been limited to the Arabs and at the time of the litigation the accusation was made that the Arabs were trying to prevent Rosengarten from competing with them.
