The Jewish group, attached to the Centre Party which was organized in connection with the last Reichstag elections, will continue to function relative to the new elections scheduled for November, it was learned here today.
The Jewish group will be headed by Georg Kareski, former head of the Berlin Jewish Community and other Jewish leaders.
It is estimated that the Jewish group was responsible for securing at least 30,000 Jewish votes in Berlin for the Centre Party in the last elections and a total of 501,000 throughout the country.
The negotiations between the Centre Party and the Nazis for a possible coalition, which caused disappointment in Jewish circles, were discussed today by Jewish and Centre leaders with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency representative.
The Centre spokesman stated that the negotiations were purely of a tactical nature and that they had not been expected to achieve practical results. He reiterated that the Centre Party made it clear to the Nazis that it would not tolerate any question regarding the withdrawal of the rights of the Jews.
The “C.-V. Zeitung,” organ of the Central Union of the German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, advises the Jewish voters that the Centre party is one of the parties for which the Jews may cast their ballots. At the same time, Bruno Weil, Central Union leader, is continuing his efforts among the Jews to induce votes for the State Party.
