The Consultative Council of Jewish Organizations asked the United Nations Economic and Social Council this week-end to take “appropriate measures” to halt the deportations of Jews and others from the major cities of Hungary. Prof. Herman Gray, of the American Jewish Committee, said that it is estimated that up to 35,000 persons were evacuated from their homes, including the entire Jewish community of the city of Debreczen.
