At a conference attended by 300 delegates representing 147 Jewish organizations of Greater New York and vicinity, held at the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society, Sunday afternoon, it was decided to organize a permanent body of representatives of Jewish organizations such as lodges of fraternal orders, benevolent societies, synagogues, temples, labor unions, etc., for the purpose of cooperating with the Society in its activities on behalf of Jewish wanderers.
The conference also decided to help raise sufficient funds so that the work may be extended.
It was further decided that the new organization shall have representation on the Board of Directors of the parent organization so that complete cooperation may be established between them, and that efforts be made to interest Jewish organizations in all parts of the country.
The conference was held in accordance with a resolution adopted at the last annual meeting of the Society held at the Hotel Astor in March of this year.
Sol Poliakoff of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers Union, presided, William Horowitz acted as vice chairman and the secretaries were Louis Holtzman and Isaac L. Asofsky.
