Jewish groups wrote members of the U.S. Congress to protest a budget bill likely to pass this week. “The budget plan passed out of the House Budget Committee would make huge cuts to domestic discretionary programs,” says the letter signed by the United Jewish Communities, the federation system’s umbrella group; the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the umbrella body for Jewish community relations councils and national Jewish groups; the Reform movement; the National Council of Jewish Women; and B’nai B’rith International.
