Edward Baron, grandson of Bernhard Baron, opened the Jewish Home of Rest yesterday, where sufferers beyond human aid might be tended by members of their own faith.
The idea of building such a home was first conceived by the late Sir Stuart Samuel, and was taken up with such effect that £27,000 was raised for the building. The foundation stone was laid last June by Bernhard Baron, who contributed £3,000 to the building fund.
Bernhard Baron was unable to be present yesterday through illness. He sent a further £500 to the fund, and Edward Baron contributed £200. A further sum of £9,000 is required.
The building was consecrated at a religious service conducted by the Chief Rabbi and the Rev. A. A. Green.
