Jewish immigrants arrived in Uruguay from thirteen different countries, according to a report received at the headquarters of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society of America, from the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society in Montevideo.
Among the 147 Jewish immigrants who registered with the Committee during the month of August, 75 came from Russia, 20 from Poland, 10 from Lithuania, 29 from Turkey, 13 from Palestine, 5 from Roumania, 2 from Belgium, 4 from Germany, 1 from Hungaria, 1 from Jugo-Slavia, 1 from China, 3 from Argentine and 1 from Danzig. Of these, 110 were men, 28 women and 9 children. The men were classified as 62 married and 48 single. Of the women 22 were married and six were single. 2 of the immigrants were more than 70 years old.
The report further states that 57 of the immigrants had trades and 81 were without training for a vocation.
