Twenty-five percent of the graduates of the Jewish Institute of Religion have enlisted in the chaplaincy corps of the United States Army and Navy, it was reported by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president and founder, at the annual meeting of the Institute yesterday.
The Institute will, in addition to its summer session and courses for pretheclogical students, initiate courses for the lay public, Dr. Wise announced. The following trustees were reelected for a three year term beginning August 31, 1946; Walter S. Hilborn, Los Angeles; Edmund I. Kaufmann, Washington; Mrs. Sol Rosenbloom, Pittsburgh; Rabbi Sidney E. Goldstein, Herbert M. Kaufmann and Joseph Stroock of New York. The new trustees elected for the same period are: Henry Epstein, Nahum Goldmann, Harry H. Straus and Rabbi Abram M. Granison.
