Jewish Institutions Benefit Under Mrs. Schiff’s Will

The will of Mrs. Therese Schiff, widow of Jacob H. Schiff, filed in Surrogates’ Court on Monday, disclosed that of the $605,000 left to the seven charitable organizations mentioned, six are Jewish institutions.

In addition, Lillian D. Wald received a legacy of $50,000 “in recognition of her many years devotion to the work of the Henry Street Settlement,” apart from an additional $50,000 bequest to the Settlement.

The Jewish charitable organizations benefiting under the will are: The Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies $250,000; Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America to establish the “Jacob and Therese Schiff Fund” $150,000; Solomon and Betty Loeb Memorial Home for Convalescents $125,000; Young Women’s Hebrew Association $10,000; and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Montefiore Hospital, $10,000.
