700 Jewish students are doomed to starvation and face the actual danger of hunger-death as a result of their expulsion from the colleges by the Soviet authorities, according to information
which reached here from Soviet Russia. The students who were expelled from the Soviet colleges because they were of non-proletarian origin, cannot even visit the kitchens which are maintained by the American Y.M.C.A. which is open only to college men. The suffering of this group is indescribable and an epidemic of suicides is a direct result. A week ago, a young student and his bride committed suicide owing to starvation.
Further arrests of Zionists took place in various parts of the country, according to the report. Twenty-seven Zionists were expelled from the Minsk district; one hundred fifty have been imprisoned in Winnitze; eighteen in Schmerminka. Five hundred teachers, Professors and literati face starvation in Kiev.
