The annual Mid-Western conference of the Jewish labor Committee last night adopted a resolution requesting a Presidential veto of the McCarran-Walter immigration bill which it termed “a discriminatory measure designed to give aid and comfort not to the forces of democracy, but rather to its enemies.”
The conference which had been called to acquaint community representatives of the Jewish Labor Committee in the Mid-west with the need for broader participation in American Jewish life and welfare funds also passed a resolution establishing a commission on the celebration of 300 years of Jewish life in America.
The resolution said that the J.L.C, “shall help to give dignified and effective expression to the contribution of the role played by the mass immigration of Jews that helped in the development of our country and of the Jewish community in the United States.”
