Prominent Jews were reported today incensed over passages in Lord Londonderry’s book, “ourselves and Germany,” particularly the section quoting his letter to the then German Ambassador Joachim von Ribbentrop in which he declared, “i have no great affection for the Jews.”
According to the Evening Standard, Anthony de Rothschild, noted communal worker, has written to lord Londonderry in protest against the book. Sir Philip Sassoon, first Commissioner of Works, and War Minister Leslie Hore-Belisha, are also said to be disconcerted over the book by a man who is accounted among their friends.
