Information reaching here from Iraq states that 54 Jews are still under arrest in Bagdad in connection with the alleged discovery last week of arms in a synagogue there.
The report says that representatives of the American Embassy in Bagdad, as well as local Jewish leaders, were invited by the Iraqi authorities to witness the search. However, when they arrived on the scene, the arms were already inside the synagogue. The Jewish leaders, who were asked to sign that they attended the search, refused to do so, but were finally compelled to sign under the pressure of threats.
