The annual observance of “Hebrew Month” was urged in a call issued today by leaders of national Jewish organizations and by noted educators and scholars at the annual dinner of the Histadruth Ivrith of America, National Organization for Hebrew Culture. Menchaem Ribalow, editor of the Hadoar, the only Hebrew weekly publication outside of Palestine, was honored at the dinner on the occasion of completing thirty years of literary activity.
Among the signatories of the call were, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver, chairman of the American Zionist Emergency Council; Hoc. Morris Rothenberg, president of the Jewish National Fund; Henry Monsky, president of B’nai B’rith, Chaim Greenberg, leader of the Poale Zion Organization; Leon Gellman, president of the Mizrachi Organization of America; Dr. Louis Finkelstein, president of the Jewish Theological Seminary; Mark Eisaer, chairman of the American Association for Jewish Education; Mrs. Judith Epstein, president of Hadassah; Dr. Israel Efros, president of the Histadruth Ivrith; and Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva College.
