Jewish leaders praised a House of Representatives bill calling for recognition of Jewish refugees who fled the Muslim world. The bill, introduced Thursday by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), recognizes some 900,000 Jewish refugees who fled Arab and Muslim countries around the time of Israel’s creation in 1948, said Jennie McCue, press secretary for Rep. Jerome Nadler (D-N.Y.), who co-sponsored the bill with Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-N.J.) .
