Jewish leaders will testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday to urge early action on the $150,000,000 Israel grant-in-aid bill. They will explain Israel’s relation to the entire foreign aid program.
Testimony will be submitted by Louis Lipsky, chairman of the American Zionist Council, Dr. Joseph Schwartz, executive director of the United Jewish Appeal, and Robert Nathan, an economist who is a specialist on the economic problems of the Near East. It is expected that the testimony will bring out why the $23,500,000 in aid proposed last week in a speech by Assistant Secretary of State George C. McGhee would be inadequate.
