Busts of Vladimir Jabotinsky and Joseph Trumpeldor, founders of the Jewish Legion during the First World War, have been sent to Avichail village, Israel, where they will be unveiled on May 15, it was announced here today by Hagdud Haivri League, an organization of surviving veterans of the Legion.
President Izhak Ben-Zvi and Premier David Ben-Gurion will participated in dedication ceremonies at the village, marking the opening of the 500-seat Goodman-Strek in Auditorium in the Bet Hagdudim cultural center built by Hagdud Haivri League. The double-life-size statues of the founders of the Legion, which will be housed in the patio of Bet Hagdudim, were created by Nathan Rapoport, the sculptor of the famous international memorial monument in Warsaw.
