A painting of Rio harbor showing a Negro in the foreground served as an excuse for a mob attack upon the place of business of a Jewish trader in gold here today.
The student leaders of teh mob asserted that the painting ,which is the work of a Brazilian artist, was an insult to the Brazilian nation.Zitrin, the Jewish owner of the store, which is on the principal street of Rio, displayed the painting in his show-window.
police saved Zitrin from the hands of the mob by arresting him.
