Cantor Gershon Ephros, compiler of the five-volume “Cantorial Anthology,” was cited tonight by the Jewish Music Council for his contributions to Jewish music. The award was presented to him on the occasion of his 70th birthday at a testimonial dinner tendered him by the Cantors Assembly of America at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
The dinner is one of a series of events in New York marking the Jewish Music Festival sponsored by the Jewish Music Council of the National Jewish Welfare Board. Cantor Ephros is an instructor at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion School of Sacred Music.
