The Assefath Hanivcharim (Jewish National Assembly) concluded its session last night after adopting a resolution protesting the severance of Transjordan from Palestine as proposed by British Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin.
Other resolutions expressed determination to fight against the “emergency regulations,” recently promulgated by the Palestine Government, and to combat the White Paper. The Assembly also protected against the inactivity of the Government in relation to the Arab boycott of Jewish-made goods, and the negligible immigration quota assigned the Jews.
A demand for the return of some 300 Jews deported and interned in Eritrea war embodied in another resolution. The Assefath Hanivcharim also called upon the Palestine Government to permit the Jewish National Council to levy its own income tax for Jews. A referendum among Jewish parents to decide what kind of schools they want for their children was authorized.
