Aaron Vergelis, editor of the Sovietisch Heimland, the Soviet Yiddish publication, arrived here today for a 10-day lecture tour of Britain which is being ignored by the British Jewish community.
The editor came as a guest of the Society for Cultural Relations with Soviet Russia. Official Jewish organizations are refusing to have anything to do with the visitor on grounds that he has a record as an apologist for Soviet authorities in their treatment of the Soviet Jewish minority. None of Vergelis’ lectures in Britain will be held under Jewish communal auspices.
