Jewish owned stores and factories closed down for two hours in a widely-publicized gesture of solidarity with Israel in its current crisis. Every shop carried a large printed poster announcing the reason for the closing, which was sponsored jointly by the Jewish Community Council and the DAIA, central representative organization of Argentine Jewry. During the demonstration, a delegation of prominent Jewish leaders called at the Foreign Ministry to urge it to use its good offices in behalf of Israel.
