Today’s nation-wide mass-meetings and three-hour work stoppage, called to protest British restrictions on Jewish immigration and land purchases, passed without incident.
Meetings, which were held in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and smaller towns, were addressed by leaders of the Jewish community. Special prayers were recited in the synagogues, while stores, offices and factories were closed. Military police guarded the streets in the vicinity of the meetings. Several bombs containing leaflets of the Irgun Zvai Leumi exploded in Tel Aviv at the conclusion of a meeting there.
At a mass meeting in Nathanya it was announced that a status representing a Jewish mother expounding her hands to her children across the seas, and calling them to Palestine, will soon be created on a rock on the Nathanya shore facing the Mediterranean.
