Interpellations urging the necessity of solving the various Jewish questions in the country were introduced in the Chamber by Deputy Ventura, one of the Jewish representatives.
Deputy Ventura especially urged measures to grant facilities to Jews under the Compulsory Sunday Observance Law and subsidies for the Jewish charity institutions and the Jewish schools.
The Minister of Education replied that the Ministry had decided to allocate a sum of 300,000 Drachmas in the Budget for the Jewish schools.
Deputy Ventura also interpellated the Minister of the Interior with regard to the recent distribution of anti-Semitic pamphlets in the streets of Athens. He said that he knew of several lawyers and doctors who were responsible for their distribution, and he wanted to know whether the Government intended to take any action to put a stop to this distribution of literature which incited the population against their Jewish fellow-citizens.
The Minister of the Interior replied that the Government was taking steps to put a stop to the circulation of these anti-Semitic pamphlets. Two persons had been arrested and would be prosecuted for printing and distributing anti-Semitic literature.
The trial would be opened during the first week in May.
