The Government of the Province of Saskatchewan has honored a Jewish refugee for his contributions to the cultural and business life of the community.
The authorities tendered a banquet at Saskatoon in honor of Fred Mandel, who came here as an immigrant ten years ago. Processes introduced by Mr. Mandel were described as having transformed the food processing industry of the province and enriched its economy. L.F. McIntosh, Minister of Municipal Affairs and the mayors of most of the province’s cities attended the affair. A presentation signed by Premier T.C. Douglas, was made to Mr. Mandel.
