For the first time since the liberation of Austria and the end of the war the number of Jewish refugees leaving Austria in any three-month period has exceeded the number arriving, Harold Trobe, Joint Distribution Committee director for Austria, reported today.
In the past three months, he revealed, an average of 400 Jewish refugees have left here for resettlement in various other countries. The arrivals, mostly from Hungary, have numbered between 100 and 125 a month. There are still some 7,000 Jewish refugees in Austria: 3,000 are in two Vienna camps and the remainder are in four camps in the American zone.
