An exhibit of rare, historical Civil War items, dealing with the role of American Jews during that conflict, is attracting wide attention here. The exhibit is sponsored by the American Jewish Civil War Centennial Commission and the Southern California Jewish Historical Society. Many of the items were gathered from museums and private collections throughout the United States.
The Sinal Temple Library here has acquired a 2,500-year-old clay cylinder which has an inscription by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II. The priceless relic was given as a gift by Samuel D. Steinberg, collector of rare books and historical documents. The inscription concerns the building of a temple in the ancient city of Sippar.
