The Bensonhurst group of Junior Hadassah will hold their Spring Dance this year in the Bohemian atmosphere of the Greenwich Village Casino, 47 West 3rd Street, Sunday evening, May 21st, at 8:30 P.M. A “work-your-way-through” plan has been devised for those who wish to attend the dance without money.

Two hundred and fifty teachers from the Jewish religious schools of New York City and vicinity will attend the last Teachers’ Conference of this year, to be held at the Central Synagogue Community House, 35 East 62nd Street, Sunday. Under the general theme, “Creative Materials in the Jewish Religious School,” the teachers will discuss the newer tendencies in Jewish education and will be shown demonstrations in their application to the work in the classroom. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of art and dramatic classes in the teachings of religion and Jewish history.

The teachers will be welcomed on behalf of Central Synagogue by Rabbi Jonah B. Wise and Max L. Schallek, president of the synagogue. Rabbi William F. Rosenblum, of Temple Israel, is chairman of the conference and will preside at Sunday’s meeting. The discussion will be divided into departmental sections and will be led by Rabbi Jacob Rudin of Great Neck and Mrs. Hyman Goldberg of White Plains, primary department; Dr. Solomon A. Fineberg of Mount Vernon and Miss Carolyn Stern of Central Synagogue, intermediate department; Rabbi Lawrence Schwartz of White Plains, Miss Naomi Rosenstratter and Miss Ruth Bielefeld of Brooklyn, junior high school department; and Rabbi William F. Rosenblum and Emanuel H. Sonenreich of Temple Israel, high school department.

This will be the third teachers’ conference held this season and is part of the work organized by the Greater New York Committee of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, of which Max L. Schallek is president and Rabbi Jacob B. Pollak, executive secretary.
