All Jewish schools in Bulgaria will be fully supported by the state, under the terms of an educational law for minorities enacted yesterday, and will be administered by the district municipal authorities.
According to the new law, Jewish teachers will receive the same salaries and privileges, including pension rights, as Bulgarian teachers. Elementary education for children between the ages of seven and 15 has new become compulsory. The Bulgarian language will be used in teaching all subjects except Hebrew and Jewish history, which will be taught in Hebrew.
A vehement protest against the “meek Nuremberg sentences” was made at a mass meeting in the Central Synagogue here called by a Jewish anti-fascist organization.
