Religious instruction will begin in Jewish schools this fall for the first time in 25 years, it was announced here today. The ban on religious instruction was lifted earlier this year, but it could not be added to the curriculum until a joint program of religious and lay instruction could be planned and coordinated.

Meanwhile, the Chief Rabbinate has announced that it will establish a special seminary for the instruction of candidates for membership on the Religious Council of Istanbul. At present the 20-member body has 17 vacancies and only three filled positions.
