Dr. Szigmont Rona, Hungarian Jewish scientist. was appointed director of the State Institute of Meteorology and Earth Magnetism.
Harry F. Guggenheim, President of the Daniel Guggenheim Fund for Promotion of Aeronautics, announced a grant of $250,000 for an aeronautical engineering building at the Massachusets Institute of Technology, pioneer institution in this field of instruction. Construction of the three-story structure will begin next spring.
Mr. Guggenheim sailed on the French liner Paris. He has accepted the invitation of the Preparatory Commission of the League of Nations Disarmament Conference to serve on a committee of experts which will examine the economic consequences which would follow a limitation of both civil and military aviation. The committee will meet in Brussels on Feb. 7 and twelve countries will be represented.
