Jewish social workers in New York State will be the guests of the Syracuse Jewish community at the coming New York State Social Work Conference, which will take place in Syracuse, Wednesday, November 16th, at the Onondaga Hotel.
The discussion on the main subject of the Conference, namely, “The Relationship Between Community Chests and Jewish Agencies and Federations,” will be led by Dr. Maurice J. Karpf, an outstanding social worker and director of the Graduate School for Jewish Social Work of New York City. Others to participate in the discussion will be Moses Winkelstein, president of the Syracuse Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies and of the Syracuse Community Chest and Council. He will touch upon the problems of Federations. Miss Stella J. Schifrin of Rochester will present the aspects of Case Work. Ben M. Edidin of Buffalo will delve on Jewish Education. Mrs. Daniel H. Meyers of Albany will inform the group on the Jewish Transient. George M. Hyman, director of the Syracuse Communal Center, will speak on Jewish Centers.
Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, Executive Director of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York City, will be the guest speaker at a dinner which will he held in conjunction with the Conference, Tuesday evening, November 15th, at the Temple Society of Concord. His address will be on “The Future of the Jewish Community.” Supreme Court Justice Samuel J. Harris of Buffalo, and Mrs. Daniel H. Meyers of Albany, prominent in the Council of Jewish Women and social work activities, will also give a message on the occasion.
