Damage estimated at $100,000 was caused in last night’s attack and burning of a Jewish store in Mercedes, a town in the northern province of Corrientes. The liberal daily, “Lundo,” today charges that the attack was not spontaneous, but carefully planned.

Shouting “death to the Jews,” the mob broke into, robbed, and finally fired the largest store in town, owned by the firm of Funds and Esquenazi. Not a single one of the hundred hoodlums was arrested, although the commissioner of police had been appealed to for protection and had refused it.
