A Jewish student named Braunstein has been sentenced by a court in Barlad to pay compensation to the amount of 200,000 Leu to an anti-Semitic Student whom Braunstein shot in self defence during the excesses of 1923. The Public Prosecutor urged the court to permit a murder charge but the court declined form the reason that the student is still living. Compensation was ordered, however, for the reason that the victim is unable to work because of a bullet in one of his lungs. Braunstein’s appeal was dismissed.
