Jewish students, who had been on strike at the Lwow Polytechnic Institute, returned to classes today following publication by the Institute’ senate of a resolution promising to suppress future anti-Semitic disturbances.
The students had walked out in protest against an order of the rector segregating Jewish students into back seats in the classrooms. It is understood the resolution was prompted by an interview the rector had with Premier Marjan Z. Koscialkowski and Education Minister Swietoslawski.
The resolution said Jews and Poles would be temporarily seated separately to avoid disorder, but it condemned anti-Jewish riots and declared that they would not be tolerated.
The segregating of Jewish students was instituted after agitation by anti-Semitic nationalistic students.
