Jewish Survivors of Bergen Belsen Camp Plan Memorial Projects

Six memorial projects are planned by the World Federation of the Bergen-Belsen Survivors to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Liberation of Nazi camps to be observed next year, it was announced here today by Josef Rosensaft, president of the Federation, at the end of a two day plenary session. The meeting was attended by 42 delegates of the various Bergen-Belsen Associations in Israel, Europe, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit and New York.

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of their Liberation, the survivors of Belsen will publish a monumental volume, entitled “Holocaust and Rebirth” which will offer a pictorial record of the story of Belsen, in addition to historical surveys and pertinent statements of 50 leading personalities of the Jewish and non-Jewish world. Planned also is a youth magazine containing the writings of the young people born in Bergen-Belsen after the liberation.

Mr. Rosensaft also announced the establishment of a Memorial Bergen-Belsen Publishing House which will publish, in various languages, books on the Nazi holocaust and Jewish martyrdom, two major libraries in Israel and New York, as well as a special monument in Jerusalem on top of Mt. Zion.
