A teacher at an Alliance Israelite Universelle school here was arrested here today after what police claimed were “Israeli documents” were found in his briefcase; He was charged with “having connections with Israel” and with “being a Zionist agent.”
The teacher, M. Marciano, was in a car when a Moroccan police officer stopped him and asked to see his identification papers; It was then that the “Israeli documents” were found. Mr. Marciano is scheduled to appear before a Moroccan tribunal.
Meanwhile, the second joint meeting was held here today between the five rabbis constituting Casablanca’s Supreme Rabbinical Council and the city’s Moslem Kadis or religious judges. The meeting, which was described as amicable, was in preparation for elections to the Syndical Commission, which comprises Moslem and Jewish religious leaders who represent their respective communities before the Government in matters relating to religion.
