A country-wide conference of Jewish war veterans was held here today with delegates from all parts of the country in attendance. Dr. Hanus Resek, chairman of the Jewish Veterans Organization of Czechoslovakia, presided.
Dr. Rezek, a chaplain in the Czech Army, stressed the importance of providing immediate aid to Israeli’s Army. He also led a service honoring the memory of the thousands of Czech Jewish soldiers killed during the war. Messages on behalf of the government were presented by leading Czech officials. Representatives of all Zionist and other Jewish organizations also participated in the conference.
H.G. Elboth, representing the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S., addressed the parley Messages of greetings were sent by the conference to the Provisional Government of Israel, Klement Gottwald, President of Czechoslovakia, and Gen. Ludwig Svoboda, Minister of War. A resolution pledging all-out aid to the Israelis was adopted by the meeting.
