Upward revision of the American immigration quota is urged by the Jewish War Veterans of the United States in a report approved by its national executive, it was announced here today. The report points out that increased U.S. immigration is necessary for national defense since figures show that by 1970 the United States will have a stationary population whereas other countries will have a rapidly increasing population.
A charge that thousands of Jewish G.I.’s were being denied admission into colleges and universities throughout the country for no other reason than their religion was made by the J.W.V. in a report submitted today to National Commander Maxwell Cohen of Boston by a special investigating committee.
The report, based upon a survey especially prepared for the 51st annual encampment of the J.W.V. to be held in Atlantic City at the end of this month, was compiled from the confidential files of the organization in its correspondence with Jewish G.I.’s seeking admission to colleges or professional schools.
